Thank you!

Dear Mr. Seamon,

As a proud alumnus of the University (‘02 BBA), I am excited to see that our leadership has appointed you to improving the football weekend experience. I think this excellent website itself is a testament to moving in the right direction.

I was at the game on Saturday and noticed the new scoreboard and graphics. While I think that some (“Get Loud!”) show off what’s possible with the high resolution display, others (“Sweet Run!”) look like they were lifted from a 1980s Nintendo game. Looking at this site, I can see that the University obviously has some outstanding design talent on staff. With the scoreboard being such an attention draw during games, I hope that you will be able to marshal the resources at hand to create more appropriate, higher quality scoreboard animations yet this season.

I was also pleased to hear that ND and NBC have launched an official iPhone app with live streaming video during the games. Like most alums, I am firmly against adding a jumbotron to Notre Dame Stadium. However, I think that this iPhone app could give fans like me the ability to see replays, get stats, etc. Unfortunately, AT&T does not have adequate coverage around the stadium to maintain a reliable 3G signal, nor is there wifi available in the stadium. I think this is an opportunity for NBC, Notre Dame and AT&T to work together to deliver a truly extraordinary experience to fans by making wifi available in the stadium to power the NBC / ND iPhone app. This kind of multimedia experience would be a first in any sport, let alone college football, and would show the world what kind of innovation Notre Dame is capable of. Perhaps it could even be “brought to you by” the new Innovation Centre at Notre Dame?

Thank you for soliciting feedback from fans and alums via the Game Day site, and I look forward to your thoughts on the ideas above.

Brian Snyder ‘02

Chuck on Cheating, RR Style

Chuck on Cheating, RR Style:
Here’s a few quotes from Charlie’s Presser today, along with a few obvious comments.
